Other elements
- Page titles
- Page titles must conform to University policy, and follow the form of Subject – Department – “The University of Iowa College of Education.” For example, “Contribute Training – Educational Technology Center – The University of Iowa College of Education.”
- Note that the exact name of the University must be “The University of Iowa” with The capitalized. “University of Iowa” is not acceptable.
- Horizontal rules
- Horizontal rules may be any width up to 100%, 1 point high, shaded or unshaded.
- Horizontal rules may also be made with a gif image, in gold or black, any width up 100% of available width, 1 point high.
- Bullets
- Bullets may be automatically generated by Contribute in bullet lists (i.e., • or °) or made with a gif image in gold or black with a size similar to Contribute-generated bullets. Size will depend on the text style (i.e. smaller in Body Text than in Subhead 2, etc.).
Content management
- Content management is the responsibility of the department or service unit. Information and links on the site must be kept up to date. Sites should be checked often for outdated information and broken links. Pages should be checked for quarterly for outdated material.
- Web content is typically shorter than printed content. It utilizes smaller paragraphs of text and bullet points for easy readability. A good rule of thumb for Web content is that is should be about half of what would be printed.
Editorial styles
- See the College of Education Editorial Style Guide for information on the editorial style.
