Biography

I am a third year Ph.D. student in the Rehabilitation Counseling Education at the University of Iowa. I became a Holmes Scholar in May of 2007. I am currently mentored by Dr. Jodi Saunders.

I graduated from South Carolina University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice. I continued my education at South Carolina State University and later received my Masters of Art in Rehabilitation Counseling in 2005. My research interest includes the career maturity of African American high school students and disability support services.

Currently, I am the instructor for the Counseling for Related Professions course which is in line with my career goal to become a professor at a research institution. My career philosophy is to empower at risk students to make career decisions. I am a member of several organizations to include: American Counseling Association, National Council on Rehabilitation Education, American Rehabilitation Counseling Association, and Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development.

In my spare time I enjoy reading magazines, watching television, and traveling.
