Biography

I am a third year Ph.D. student in Counseling Psychology at the University of Iowa. I became a Holmes Scholar in May, 2006 and am mentored by Dr. Saba Ali.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. My research interests include career counseling rural high school students, social class issues, and Latino migrant families experience within the U.S.and Mexico.

Currently, I am a liaison for a rural high school in Iowa, through The Future in Iowa project. This project aspires to help student's realize their potential and expand their knowledge of career opportunities. My career philosophy is to be a source of support for Latinos and students who have frequently felt there are barriers to their education and life goals. I am a member of the American Psychological Association and involved with Division 17 and 45.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, singing, listening to music, Latin dancing, playing the violin, and running.
