Workshops

A series of two workshops were held regionally to promote the application of the ideas presented in the ICN sessions. The two workshops offered participants an opportunity to apply concepts and procedures to the their team's local setting. The teams brought their own assessment tools and set of content standards and benchmarks to the first workshop and used the alignment-checking process covered in the first two ICN sessions and Web Lesson 1 to begin to gather alignment information about their own assessment tools. In the second workshop, teams again used their own assessment tools to lay out a plan for gathering the type of comprehensive evidence they would need to make judgments about the technical adequacy of their assessment data. In both workshops, four to six project staff members were present to provide team-to-team consultation-answer questions, review plans, and interpret data gathered to date.

Workshop sites were selected to minimize travel time for participants and to ensure that group sizes were small enough that individualized assistance could be provided to all who might need it. Each of the two workshops was repeated at 12 different locations around the state. The individuals designated as the contact member for a given ITAP team was notified as to which specific workshop location(s) their team had been assigned for each of the two workshops.

Each LEA team was reimbursed, upon request, for travel from its LEA site to their assigned workshop location.
