Iowa Technical Adquacy Project

Technical Adequacy Part 1: What is the technical quality of the instrument?

Introduction

This lesson was designed to provide practice and support following the second and third ICN training sessions about topics related to the technical adequacy of assessments. This lesson was intended to reinforce ideas presented in the ICN sessions related to the technical quality of an assessment. (Part of the second ITAP workshop was used to help apply these same ideas to a specific local situation.)

While completing this lesson, it might be useful for you to have access to your notes and handouts from the second and third ICN sessions related to technical quality. During the lesson, take notes that might help you and your team later on as you apply the ideas to your district’s work with technical adequacy.

This lesson, unlike the first web lesson, is not interactive. Instead, the lesson consists of a discussion of the major concepts associated with technical quality. If you would prefer to read this lesson from "hard copy," a pdf version of this web lesson has been posted in the ITAP library under the heading "Technical Adequacy Documents and Resources."
