The ePortfolio™ framework
provides a design for evaluation based on
the State of Iowa Teaching Standards and Criteria.

The Iowa ePortfolio™ Model provides a technology-based system for collecting and organizing the standards-based performances of probationary teachers. The ePortfolio™provides a user-friendly means for teachers and their administrators/evaluators to gauge the progress of teachers achieving professional licensure requirements. The model also provides evaluators the tools essential for portfolio review and licensure recommendation.

School districts implementing the ePortfolio™ Framework will realize that the model provides more than a collection of performance assessments. For example:

Rich documentation can be stored and viewed in an ePortfolio™. Multimedia tools can provide more authentic demonstration of teaching and classroom practices and outcomes.

A teacher's ePortfolio™ provides an effective way of organizing artifacts based on 8 standards with performance assessments; ePortfolio™ templates standardize the arrangement of essential performance assessments and make the assessment process more efficient for evaluators.
ePortfolios on the Internet provide 24/7 access to administrators. Teachers' artifacts can be examined in or out of the building by simply logging on to the Internet. The Evaluator's Notebook can be started, edited or even finished at home, on the road or in the office.
The ePortfolio™ may bring a new dimension to professional relationships in the school building. Conversations among teachers and administrators are more likely to focus on professional topics dealing with standards and teaching practices.
