The Visual Arts Institute (VAI) is a one-week residential summer program at The University of Iowa for twenty-eight artistically talented students who are currently in 9th-11th grades.

VAI provides talented artists with an intensive and advanced studio experience designed to enhance their creative and artistic growth. Each student receives a $500 scholarship to cover the majority of the cost of the Institute. Scholarships are made possible through a generous gift from Mary Bucksbaum Scanlan.
