College of Education: Belin-Blank Center

Blank Summer Institute (BSI) - June 29-July 11

Student Selection Process

Stage 1: STUDENTS MUST BE NOMINATED BY THEIR SCHOOLS

Each middle or junior high school may nominate one student for each course; therefore each school may nominate a total of eight students. A student can be nominated in only one area.

Schools are free to adopt any procedure in order to nominate students. We suggest appointing a nomination committee and/or consulting teachers who specialize in the specific course areas.

Stage 2: FINAL SELECTION

Schools will forward their nominations to the Belin-Blank Center where the final selection of the 130 participants will be made. The final selection committee will consist of faculty and staff from The University of Iowa and experts from the community. There will be a separate selection committee for each of the six courses.
