College of Education: Belin-Blank Center

Blank Summer Institute (BSI) - June 29-July 11

Eligibility

All Iowa Students enrolled in public or approved private schools who are currently in grades 7 or 8 are eligible for participation. Students do not have to be identified by, or enrolled in, a talented and gifted program to be nominated.

Test Scores and Grades

Students who are being nominated should have high scores on the subtests of standardized tests that are most closely related to their nomination area. A copy of the student's Iowa Test of Basic Skills score report or equivalent test must be included with these nominations. While standardized test scores will be considered in the selection of students for BSI, other criteria will also be taken into consideration. Samples of a student's work, teacher recommendations, and awards/honors in related areas will be carefully reviewed. A copy of the student's current grade report must accompany all nominations.

Special Accomplishments

Talented students may manifest their talents through involvement in cocurricular activities.
