Challenges for Elementary School Students (CHESS)

Iowa City Session 2 - July 21-August 1, 2008

Writing Workshop - 9 am - Noon

This course is for students who are genuinely interested in exploring various modes of writing in a workshop and process-orientated setting and atmosphere…

Both instructor and student-selected writing activities will be explored and will include reading about the writing process, studying pieces of selected writing, drafting, revising and editing original pieces of writing while engaging in both oral and written response. Students will work on various pieces of writing with a goal to submit pieces for publication in a booklet to be created at the end of the course. Short field trips will be planned to visit local sites for inspiration.
