The Belin-Blank Center is producing a series of reports examining how gifted students are served in rural schools. Our first report, published in 1999, provides a historical perspective, summarizes the state of gifted of education in rural America, and proposes steps to improve education for the gifted in rural schools.

Gifted Voices From Rural America

The second report highlights several rural schools that are facing various challenges, schools from a range of locales and with varying student populations. Each of these schools is effectively serving gifted students while continuing to respect the needs and heritage of their communities. None of these schools is trying to suburbanize their programs; rather, each respects local students and their backgrounds, the landscape, and the heritage of place. These are their voices.
