Optional Academic Credit for the AP Teacher Training Institute

Teachers who register for APTTI may enroll for optional academic credit. Each AP workshop offers two graduate-level credit hours.

University enrollment forms will be available at APTTI Registration, to be held in the new John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center on the opening day of each session, between 10:00 am and noon. University credit is NOT included in the cost of APTTI, but a substantial grant from the Belin-Blank Center is supporting over half of the cost of university tuition. Teachers will only pay $300 (less than half of the total cost) for two graduate-level credit hours.

Participants may earn an additional credit hour by enrolling in an optional credit session that will help participants understand the needs of their highest ability students in the context of the AP classroom. The optional credit session will be held on Tuesday evenings during the Institute; the University will bill participants full tuition ($332) for the extra credit hour.

Each of the AP content areas provides credit in the State of Iowa Talented and Gifted Endorsement (programming strand).

The University of Iowa Advanced Placement Institute is endorsed by The College Board.
