General Information about the APTTI
All 2008 APTTI classes will be held in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. APTTI classes will be held at the Pappajohn Education Center (1200 Grand Ave., Des Moines) and/or at the Des Moines Public Schools Central Campus (1800 Grand Ave., Des Moines).
Registration
Early registration is requested; on-line registration will be available no later than February 29, 2008 here. Participants may register for one class per session (July 14-18 and July 21-25). Those wishing to register using a paper registration form may download a printable form from our Website or request a registration form by calling 800-336-6463 or 319-335-6148 or via e-mail at aptti@belinblank.org.
Classes are subject to cancellation if enrollments are insufficient.
Fees
Late Registration Fees (received after June 22 for Session 1 or after June 29 for Session 2) will be $475 per session. Cancellations are subject to a $50 cancellation fee, if received prior to one week of the start of the session. Cancellations received after that time are non-refundable.
Academic credit, travel, and lodging expenses are the responsibility of the participant and are not included in the APTTI registration fee.
Lodging
Participants are responsible for arranging their own lodging. Conference rates for APTTI have been negotiated with the Hotel Fort Des Moines, which is located within short walking distance of each class center. Rooms will be available at the conference rate ($80/night-single or double occupancy; $100/night for a suite) on a first-come, first-served basis until June 16 and June 23, 2008 for Sessions 1 and 2, respectively. To receive the conference rate, please indicate you are attending APTTI when making your reservations. Please make your reservations directly with the Hotel Fort Des Moines.

Optional Academic Credit for the AP Teacher Training Institute
Teachers who register for APTTI may enroll for optional academic credit. Each AP workshop offers two graduate-level credit hours.
University enrollment forms will be available at APTTI Check-in, to be held at the John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center on the opening day of each session, between 10:00 a.m. and noon. University credit is NOT included in the cost of APTTI, but a substantial grant from the Belin-Blank Center is supporting over half of the cost of university tuition. Teachers will only pay $360 (less than half of the total cost) for two graduate-level credit hours.
Participants may earn an additional credit hour by enrolling in an optional credit session that will help participants understand the needs of their highest ability students in the context of the AP classroom. The optional credit session will be held on Tuesday evenings during the Institute; The University of Iowa will bill participants full tuition ($361) for the extra credit hour.
Each of the AP content areas provides credit in the State of Iowa Talented and Gifted Endorsement (programming strand).
