“I am really glad to have the opportunity to collaborate with the researchers here (at the Belin-Blank Center). I have broadened my understanding about gifted education, especially gifted education system and the psychology of gifted students… There is a feeling of family here among the staff.”—Dr. Kyungjin Kim, post-doctoral researcher, current visiting scholar from South Korea
Scholars from around the world have visited the Belin-Blank Center to further their knowledge on gifted education. Past visiting scholars have conducted research, collaborated with other researchers, taught classes, observed classrooms, and enhanced their expertise on gifted education.
Dr. Kyungjin Kim, from South Korea, visited the center for one and a half years. She received funding from the South Korean government to research the professional development of educators who work with gifted students. Dr. Kim decided to use her grant to research alongside the scholars at the Belin-Blank Center. She also observed local high schools and taught a Saturday class for academically talented students. Dr. Kim enjoyed her time in Iowa, saying “This place is very peaceful and calm, with fresh air, safety, and kind people.”
