College of Education: Belin-Blank Center

Inventiveness Curriculum

Students from Colombia, guided by the Belin-Blank Center’s Inventiveness Curriculum, invented and built an efficient shoe polisher.

Inventing is a creative and collaborative process. Guided by curriculum developed by the Belin-Blank Center, students identify and research a real-life problem and work through a creative process to develop an invention that will solve the problem. Students create a presentation that displays their invention. The invention process helps develop many important skills: critical and creative thinking, problem solving, and communication.

Teachers in Canada, Colombia, India, New Zealand, and the U.S. have used our inventiveness curriculum to develop in-class and out-of-class learning experiences for their students. The Belin-Blank Center has provided support and consultation services to schools that have adopted the curriculum.
