Assessment
Psychoeducational assessment is available to determine the ability levels of gifted students, to identify the presence of a disability and/or social-emotional concern, and to help parents and school personnel determine a students psychosocial and educational needs.
This assessment typically includes background information from parents and school personnel, clinical interviews, observation, and psychological testing.
Career-related assessment services are also available for gifted students. These assessments measure career interests, personality characteristics, and values in order to guide students in their college and/or career decision-making process.
Counseling
Counseling sessions for gifted students and their families are available. These sessions are designed to assist students and their families with adjustment and emotional difficulties relating to the students giftedness.
Outreach and Consultation
A variety of consultation services are offered to parents of gifted and talented students. Topic areas for consultation are diverse; some examples include acceleration planning, decision-making for post-secondary education, and second opinions regarding diagnosis.
The ACC staff is available on a limited basis to provide outreach services to professionals in gifted education.
