Director's Message
Dear Colleague:
The Belin-Blank Center is pleased to offer you a wide variety of different professional development workshops/courses. Each of these corresponds to one of the educational strands necessary for the Iowa Talented and Gifted Endorsement.
Courses and workshops within the Psychology of the Gifted strand include:
- 7C/7U:137 - Introduction to Educating Gifted Students (3 credit hours, online, Guided Independent Study)
- 7C/P:120 - Psychology of Giftedness
- 7C:237 - Seminar in Gifted Education TAG: You're It (2 credit hours, extension class at ITAG conference and participation online; registration for ITAG Conference is a pre-requisite— http://www.iowatag.org/)
Courses and workshops in the Programming for the Gifted strand include:
- *7E/S/U: 196:WKA - Special Topics: Gifted and General Education Collaboration (can also count as administrative credit per instructor)
The workshop in the Administration of Gifted Programs strand includes:
- *07P:193:WKA - Special Readings and Projects: Leadership in Gifted Education NAGC 2009 (registration for NAGC conference is a pre-requisite – please add NAGC link)
- *07P:193:WKB - Special Readings and Projects: Leadership in Gifted Education ITAG 2009 (registration for ITAG Conference is a pre-requisite— http://www.iowatag.org/)
*may be taken more than one time (varying subject areas) for the Talented and Gifted Endorsement
The fourth strand necessary for the Talented and Gifted Endorsement involves the individualized program planned for each teacher who arranges the Practicum experience directly with Dr. Laurie Croft, Administrator for Professional Development (laurie-croft@uiowa.edu) at the Center.
