Academic Credit

One (1) semester hour of Academic credit from The University of Iowa is available for all TWO DAY classes, and two (2) semester hours of credit are available for the four day workshops. Academic credit is NOT available for the one day workshops. A paper or project, due September 1, is required to earn one semester hour of credit for a 2 day class or two semester hours of credit for a 4-day class. Credit will be recorded in early October on a University of Iowa transcript as 07C:182 Workshop for Helping Professionals.

Registration for academic credit for the 4 day classes and for the first 2 day session takes place on Monday, August11 from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. and for the second 2 day session on Wednesday, August 13 from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. in the Ballroom Lobby of the Iowa Memorial Union. Instructors of classes available for academic credit will explain paper/project requirements during the first hour of class. Participants will be able to make changes in their credit registrations until 11:00 a.m. on the first day of class. You must have registered for the ASSHP and have received confirmation of your course selection prior to registering for University of Iowa academic credit on August 11 or August 13.

Tuition for academic credit is $361 per semester hour for graduate credit or $232 per semester hour for undergraduate credit. Your ASSHP session registration fee will be applied toward the cost of tuition if you select the academic credit option for that session.  Do not send payment for tuition for academic credit with your ASSHP registration and fee. You will be billed for the balance of the tuition by The University of Iowa on September 1. Undergraduates are graded S (Satisfactory) or F (Fail) only. Graduate students are graded S (Satisfactory) or U (Unsatisfactory), but may request a letter grade. Instructors are not required to honor requests for a letter grade. Grades will be recorded in early October. University credit is granted to participants who properly complete a credit registration form, pay the tuition fee, and demonstrate an understanding of course content at a prescribed level of competency.
